The Old Glory Ultra is back this year with a new location, the Foxfire Golf Resort (9 Foxfire Boulevard, Jackson Springs, NC 27281). This race benefits the Old Glory Legacy Foundation.
This Adventure race will be held on Saturday, November 14. Runners will begin at the clubhouse and follow golf cart trail the red fox course. The race will continue on to Foxfire Village Park, there will be water and aid stations along the course. Runners will receive a medal, shirt, post race food and beer. Participants can also golf on Friday, November 13 or Sunday, November 15 at the Foxfire Golf Resort.
The 50 mile relay will consist of at least one 6.25 mile loop, teams of 2-5 are allowed to participate in the relay.
The 50 miler starts at 5:00 am, followed by the 50k at 6:00 am, the 50 mile relay at 7:00 am and finally the 10 miler at 10:00 am.

The Uwharrie 100 Trail Run will be held on Saturday, October 24. The run will begin at 6:00 am on Saturday and conclude at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 25.
The Uwharrie National Forest will be the site of this trail run, he Wood Run Trail Head (4580 NC 27, Uwharrie National Forest, Troy, NC 27371) marks the beginning of the 20.5 mile single track course. To complete the 100 mile run participants will complete five of the 20.5 mile loops, those in the 100k will complete three loops. The course is a technically difficult course, there will be aid stations set at mile 6, 11.5, 15 and 20.5 of the single loop track. The 100 mile and 100k race will have a 36 hour time limit.

Over 250 participants came together to run the 1 in 8k in historic downtown Pinehurst. The race, in its fifth year, was held on Saturday, August 29. The course was shaped like an “8” to represent that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Pink was the color of the day as participants shirts were dark pink and survivor shirts were light pink.
The 8k ran through historic downtown Pinehurst, through the trails of Rassie Wicker Park, around the Carolina Hotel, and ended in front of Tufts Memorial Park. The overall winner of the 8k was Tommy Delemnay with a chip time of 29:41. The overall female winner was Berenice Macias with a chip time of 31:33, this was her second time winning the 1 in 8k. The overall survivor winner was Carla Albritton with a chip time of 37:02. After the race runners were treated to a concert by Tony Barnes.

The annual Run for the Ribbons 5k is back with a different location for the 2015 Spring Series. The race will take place in downtown Rockingham on Saturday, April 18th. The race benefits the Foundation of FirstHealth’s Cancer CARE fund and Discovery Place Kids Rockingham.
The Family Fun 1k will begin at 9:30 am in front of Discovery Place Kids in Rockingham (233 E. Washington Street, Rockingham NC 28379). The 5k will follow at 10:00 am. Participants in the race will receive free admission to Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham on the day of the race. The 5k race will be a mixture of trail and paved course. A map of the course is available for runners.

The Foundation of FirstHealth Cancer CARES fund has provided more than 1 million dollars of direct support to cancer patients since 2000.
Mardi Gras Miles returned for another year to kick off the 2015 Spring Series, but this year there was a new course for runners to explore. The new course was a mix of trail and road winding through the campus of Pope John Paul II Catholic School and St. Joseph of the Pines. Runners from age six to 76 came out and enjoyed the crisp running weather.
The 5k began at 9:30, the overall winner of the 5k was Justin Seimet of Fayetteville with a time of 19:51, Robyn Humphrey won the overall female 5k with a time of 20:12. After the 5k there was a Kids Run for the Beads in which participants ran laps over an allotted time and were awarded a strand of beads for every lap completed.

The month of March brings two races to the 2015 Spring Series, the Shamrock ‘N’ Roll on March 14, and the All-American Marathon on March 22nd. Registration for these races can be found here.
The 2015 Spring Series officially begins on Saturday, February 14 with the Mardi Gras Miles. This year there will be a new course for participants that passes through St. Joseph of the Pines and the campus of St. John Paul II Catholic School (2922 Camp Easter Road, Southern Pines, NC 28327). Mardi Gras Miles is a pet friendly event (dogs must be on a leash) and childcare will be available for those who need it during the event. The course is comprised of both road and trail.
The 5k will begin at 9:30 am at St. John Paul II Catholic School (2922 Camp Easter Road, Southern Pines, NC 28327). Prizes will be awarded to age group winners beginning at 11:00 am.
An annual favorite, the Kids Run for the Beads will feature two heats, a ten minute run for those aged seven and under, and a 15 minute run for those aged eight and above. A string of beads will be awarded for each lap run during the allotted time. This event will begin at 10:30 am for the younger runners and at 10:50 am for the older runners.
There will also be prizes given for the best costume and for the best mask. Prizes will be awarded at 11:00 am.
Mardi Gras Miles benefits the athletic and physical educational programs of St. John Paul II Catholic School.

Bring your beads and show some love at this year’s Mardi Gras Miles!
The second annual Old Glory Trail Trot is a fantastic way to honor our veterans. The Old Glory Trail Trot benefits the Old Glory Foundation, an organization that brings military service members and their families together and helps them build memories through horses and outdoor activities.
The Old Glory Trail Trot is a multi-loop trail run through the Sandhills of North Carolina. The loop is a 10 mile loop with aid stations at the starting and ending point as well as the five mile point. Finishers will receive medals and there will be post race beverages and food. This race also features a 50 mile relay option that is open to groups of 2-5 members. The first event, the 50 mile begins at 5:00 am, followed by the 50k at 6:00 am, the 50 mile relay at 7:00 am, and finally the 10 miler at 10:00 am. The race will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 180 Bowman Road, Aberdeen, NC 28315

The Old Glory Trail Trot is part of the SRS Adventure Series.
MANNA in Motion joined the 2014 Fall Series of the SRS on Saturday, October 11. The race was held at St. John Paul 2 Catholic School and ran through the grounds of St. Joseph of the Pines. MANNA is a ministry that provides lunches for needy residents of Moore County.
Geoffrey Washburn won the overall 5k race with a chip time of 16:16. Geoffrey Washburn has won all of the 2014 Fall Series races. Robyn Humphrey won the overall female 5k with a chip time of 21:08. St. John Paul 2 Middle won the overall team awards with a 5k time of 21:46. For full results click here.
SRS is hosting a meet-up at Reservoir Park in Southern Pines on Saturday, October 18. We will do a lap around the lake and then have time to meet each other after. SRS will recognize 2014 Spring Series winners and 2014 Summer Series Participants.
The Gamelands Ultra is part of the Adventure Series for the Sandhills Race Series. This race will be held on Saturday, August 16 and benefits the Old Glory Legacy Foundation. The 50k will begin at 7:00 am and the 10 mile will begin at 8:00 AM.
The Gamelands Ultra will take place on over 500 acres of NC Gamelands. (27323 Harold Morris Road, Wagram, NC 28396). The course is comprised of road width trails made of sand and there are some water crossings. The race will begin and end on the 80 acre horse farm known as the Old Glory Legacy Foundation. Runners who complete the race will receive a finisher medal, a tee shirt, free barbecue, and beer that will be provided by Dirt Bag Ales. Dirt Bag Ales is a veteran owned brewery out of the Fayetteville, NC area. Campsites will be available for participants who would like to camp out after the race.

The Sandhills Race Series is excited to the have the Gamelands Ultra as part of its Adventure Series.
If you are looking for a chance to earn extra bonus points for the 2014 Spring Series consider running the Rattler Trail Run. This adventure series event will be held at San Lee Park in Sanford (572 Pumping Station Run, Sanford, NC 27330) on Saturday, May 24.
The Rattler Trail Run half marathon and marathon course will be a combination of San Lee Park’s mountain bike trail, Muir Nature Trail, and Thoreau Lake Trail. This will be a challenging course with ascents and descents and rocks and roots so be careful to watch your footing. The race will begin at 9:00 am. All participants who complete the race will receive finisher medals; food will also be available.
